In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Strategy, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Malam Habibu Wushishi, the Niger State Ministry has addressed a false report published by "Beli Media." The report claimed that IDP camps were deteriorating and that thousands of displaced persons were in dire need of basic amenities and facing health challenges.

The ministry emphasized its commitment to serving humanity and managing disasters. Under the leadership of Commissioner Ahmed Baba Suleiman Yumu and Permanent Secretary Barrister Mairo Mohammed Mann, the ministry has been actively providing food items, mosquito nets, blankets, and other necessities since its creation on July 16, 2023, by Governor Umar Mohammed Bago. These efforts continued as recently as June 13, 2024, with the distribution of supplies in various camps across the state, witnessed by local government chairmen, traditional leaders, party executives, and other stakeholders.

The ministry also ensures that individuals with health challenges receive appropriate treatment, counseling, and support. As a donor-driven organization, it collaborates with local, national, and international donors, including North South Power Company, T Y Danjuma Foundation, National Commission for Refugees, UNICEF, NEMA, and the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Additionally, the ministry has secured approval for the construction of a 3 billion naira skills acquisition center in Minna, Niger State, aimed at making IDPs economically and socially self-reliant.

The ministry invites journalists and the public to visit, make suggestions, and seek assistance as needed, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and service. It urges against politicizing humanitarian efforts, emphasizing that such actions are detrimental to both God and humanity.
