The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) has scheduled today, Saturday, 19th October 2024, for the Councillorship and Chairmanship elections across the state.
Our correspondent visited Sabon Gari Local Government to observe the events as they unfolded.
Honourable Abubakar Jamil Albani, a Kaduna State House of Assembly member representing Basawa Constituency of Sabon Gari and the current All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate for the local government, cast his vote at Sa'eedu Primary School polling unit (012 Samaru). In an interview with journalists from various media outlets, Albani expressed confidence in his party’s chances, stating, "By Allah’s grace, the APC will emerge victorious."
Albani expressed gratitude to the electorate for their impressive turnout and their support for the APC. He also urged citizens to remain law-abiding and peaceful throughout the election process.
The candidate received a warm show of support from many in the community, who accompanied him to his residence after he cast his vote.
The election process in Sabon Gari has thus far been peaceful, with no reports of disturbances, particularly at the polling unit where the former legislator voted.
As of the time of this report, residents of Sabon Gari Local Government are eagerly awaiting the official results of the election.
