Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Murtala Dabo, has hinted that the Governor Uba Sani-led administration will rehabilitate all dams in the state to improve the socioeconomic development of the people.

He made this statement during his visit to the Galma irrigation site in Zaria, as part of his ongoing tour of irrigation sites across the state.

Hon. Dabo emphasized that Governor Uba Sani is passionate about encouraging farmers to diversify their practices, advising them not to rely solely on rain-fed farming but to embrace dry-season farming to boost agricultural production.

He further mentioned that the state government has allocated approximately 12% of this year’s budget to agriculture in order to meet food security program standards.

The Commissioner assured farmers that the state government would soon begin distributing farm implements to motivate them to adopt irrigation farming.

Hon. Dabo expressed satisfaction with the commitment and hard work of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and other relevant stakeholders in supporting food security initiatives.

During the visit, the Chairman of AFAN Kaduna State Chapter, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu, presented a Certificate of Excellence to the Commissioner, in recognition of his vision for agricultural development in the state.

In an interview, the Chairman of the Galma Irrigation Cooperative Association, Alhaji Shehu Lawal Dalhatu, stressed the need for the Kaduna State government to provide agricultural inputs to support the growth of irrigation farming across the state.
