Bauchi State Information and Communication Commissioner, Usman Shehu Usman has assured that the second phase of Bauchi Broadcasting Corporation (BRC) which is the establishment of more community radios in the state would soon take-off.

According to him, the second phase of the project entails the establishment of community radio in some of the state local government areas that were hitherto lacking including Darazo, Shira Warji, Giade, Dambam, Dass, and the state host local government of Bauchi.

"With the execution of phase two of the project, there would be a community radio in each of the 20 Local Government Areas of the state. In phase two of the programme, you will see each and every Local Government Area of Bauchi is connected to its own community radio station".

Alh. Usman Shehu Usman explained that with the new development, maintenance would not only be with AM and FM stations, but all the community radios in the state are going to be overhauled for efficiency and effectiveness.

The Commissioner who was briefing the press on the outcome of recent State Execution Council meeting said, "We are lucky in the ministry of information that our Governor is not only a journey, but also a media friendly governor whom, he said, everybody in Nigeria knows about his media friendliness."

He also spoke about the BRC and Bauchi State Television (BATV) digitalization equipment which were already on ground, with some almost fixed, saying, "Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has emphasized that the digitalization has to be done urgently because it is now one of his priorities".

Regarding the issue of employment into the BRC, the commissioner drew public attention that the issue is not only about BRC that was having casual staff, but every MDAs in the state is also understaffed, which issue has also been discussed at the council meeting.

Usman assured that Bauchi state government is already employing citizens into its services, as can be attested to by the recent and ongoing employment by some MDAs, namely State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Sharia Commission and Ministry of Housing and Environment, among others.
