The Governor of Kaduna State, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani, has approved the appointment of two new members to the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee. The new appointees are Halliru Abdullahi Maraya and Abdullahi Bayero.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed and released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa. “The Governor congratulates the new appointees and charges them to discharge their duties with utmost diligence and integrity. He also wishes them Allah's guidance in their new assignment,” Musa stated.
Profiles of the New Appointees
Halliru Abdullahi Maraya
Halliru Abdullahi Maraya is a respected expert in Islamic affairs, a long-standing peace advocate, and a promoter of interfaith dialogue. He previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Kaduna State from 2011 to 2015 and as Senior Special Assistant on Islamic Matters from 2010 to 2011.
Maraya is currently a member of the National Ulamah Committee of the Hajj Commission. He also served as the Northern Coordinator of the Global Peace Foundation, Nigeria. His expertise includes mediation, interfaith dialogue, management, and administration. In recognition of his efforts in promoting interfaith harmony, Maraya co-won the 2017 Global Peace Foundation Award for Interfaith Actors.
Abdullahi Bayero
Abdullahi Bayero is an accomplished businessman, experienced public servant, and strategic communication specialist. He is also known for his advocacy work on behalf of the underprivileged.
Bayero’s public service record includes serving as Special Assistant to the Governor of Kaduna State on Stakeholder Relations in 2015. In 2024, he worked with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) as a Stakeholder in Operations, overseeing Hajj logistics, travel arrangements, and welfare services for pilgrims. He was also a member of NAHCON’s Ulamah Committee in 2019 and the Feeding Committee in 2017.
Bayero holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management.
The appointment of Maraya and Bayero is part of Governor Uba Sani’s strategic move to strengthen the Kaduna State Special Hajj Committee by leveraging the wealth of experience and expertise of the new members.
