The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has expressed profound gratitude to the people of Kebbi State, particularly the organisers of a Mega Rally held in honour of him and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for their commendable efforts.

Governor Idris made this known on Wednesday during the rally, which took place at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. The event aimed to celebrate the achievements of both the governor and President Tinubu.

In his remarks, Governor Idris conveyed his satisfaction with the rally's turnout and lauded the people for recognising the positive strides made by his administration in Kebbi State and by President Tinubu at the national level.

Addressing circulating rumours, the governor dismissed claims that some individuals in Kebbi were plotting against the president. He stated, "Today, all representatives of the presidency can see that this gathering is not only in honour of Kaura but also of President Tinubu."

Governor Idris urged those spreading such speculations to reconnect with the people, emphasising that politics should focus on service rather than promoting falsehoods from Abuja.

He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to working closely with the federal government to ensure continued development in Kebbi State. "The federal government, under the leadership of Mr. President, plays a vital role in every developmental stride recorded in Kebbi," he noted.

Commitment to Agriculture and Education

On agricultural development, Governor Idris assured farmers that as long as he remained in office, fertilisers would be provided free of charge. He also pledged to continue funding the Hadaya (sacrificial ram) for intending pilgrims from the state.

"I want to assure our intending pilgrims that I will continue to pay for their Hadaya as long as I remain the governor of Kebbi State," he said.

Highlighting strides in education, the governor disclosed that his administration had renovated 1,816 schools and constructed 237 new ones to elevate educational standards in Kebbi.

Welfare of Workers and Empowerment Initiatives

Governor Idris assured that his administration owed no backlog of salaries, pensions, gratuities, death benefits, or leave grants.

"As a government of the people, we aim to impact all aspects of human life. In line with this, we have fully settled NECO and WAEC examination fees for all indigent students of Kebbi State," he added.

He also revealed that N6.5 billion had been spent on empowering 6,500 individuals under the Kaura Cares programme, with each beneficiary receiving N100,000 to promote self-sufficiency.

Appreciation for Presidential Support

The governor commended President Tinubu for his support and development initiatives in Kebbi State. "No administration has introduced empowerment programmes like President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's. Kebbi State remains 100 per cent in support of Mr. President," he declared.

Federal Government's Infrastructure Plans

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, announced that the Federal Government plans to construct the Natsini-Kangiwa-Kamba road at the cost of N35 billion. He highlighted the road's significance for rural communities, particularly farmers.

Bagudu described Governor Idris as a blessing to the people of Kebbi, while President Tinubu was a blessing to Nigerians. He also mentioned the ongoing construction of the Koko-Dabai road, crucial to the Zuru Emirate and Kebbi State at large.

Expressing his delight at the massive turnout, Bagudu remarked, "I am not surprised by the crowd here today. The essence of democracy is delivering positive development, and Kauran Gwandu has fulfilled his campaign promises in less than two years."

Presidency and APC Leaders Commend Kebbi People

A representative of the presidency and member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Mr. James Falake, thanked the people of Kebbi for their unwavering support for both Governor Idris and President Tinubu.

"When I arrived, I saw the people happy, and I am happy too," Falake said. He acknowledged the challenges the country faces, adding that the nation must endure some hardships before witnessing progress. However, he assured Nigerians that President Tinubu would not disappoint them.

Earlier, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, called on residents to continue supporting Governor Idris to enable him to deliver the dividends of democracy.

In his address, Hon. Bello Ka'oje, leader of the organising committee and member of the House of Representatives representing Suru/Bagudo federal constituency, explained that the rally aimed to show appreciation for Governor Idris's good work.

"We stand with Kaura—that is our mission—and we also stand with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for the remarkable progress they have brought to Nigerians," Ka'oje said.

He urged the people of Kebbi to sustain their support for the current administration under the leadership of Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, praying for the governor's continued success.
