Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for widespread support for a new movement aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. Atiku, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in 2023, was defeated by Tinubu in that election.

Speaking at an event organized in his honor by Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo in Yola on Tuesday, Atiku urged his supporters to unite in an effort to restore the country’s path to progress. He emphasized the need for collective action to challenge the status quo and rebuild a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.

"The future of our nation depends on our ability to come together and take decisive action," Atiku told the crowd. "It is time for change, and together, we can make it happen."

Atiku also highlighted the challenges facing Nigeria under the current administration, particularly in governance, security, and the economy. He argued that the ruling APC has failed to meet the needs of Nigerians and has instead pursued policies that have deepened the nation’s struggles.

"The people of Nigeria deserve better leadership—leadership that is accountable and works for the people, not just for political elites," he added.

The former vice president commended Senator Abbo for organizing the event and praised his dedication to the movement. He urged Abbo and other leaders to continue mobilizing support, stressing that such efforts would be crucial in building momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.

Earlier, Senator Abbo reaffirmed his group’s unwavering loyalty to Atiku, assuring him that members were fully committed to his political ideology.

"This movement is not just about Atiku; it is about transforming the political system and ensuring a government that truly represents the will of the people," Abbo said.

"We stand with Atiku because he has always championed the cause of the Nigerian people. Our mission is clear: to restore hope, challenge the corrupt practices of the current administration, and ensure that Nigerians get the leadership they deserve."

As the event concluded, there was a renewed sense of purpose among Atiku’s supporters, many of whom expressed their readiness to actively participate in the movement leading up to 2027. His call for unity resonated deeply with attendees, who left the gathering more determined than ever to work toward a better Nigeria.
