President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the weekend suicide bombing in Konduga, Borno State, describing the attack as a cowardly act targeting innocent civilians.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President expressed deep anguish over the attack and extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State.
"President Tinubu mourns those who lost their lives in the attack and described the incident as cowardly,” the statement read.
He directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate assistance to survivors and the affected community.
The President also urged security agencies to intensify their efforts in eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents, who, according to him, have turned to soft targets in a desperate attempt to cause disruption and fear.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu also expressed sympathy for the victims of an explosion in Kano State, which occurred on Saturday morning at a scrap metal factory.
The explosion reportedly affected 15 individuals, claiming five lives, and leaving others injured.
President Tinubu emphasized the critical importance of workplace safety and called on relevant government agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident.
The President’s remarks come amid heightened concerns over security and industrial safety in different parts of the country.
