Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, popularly known as the Farmer-Governor, has called on traditional institutions to strengthen their collaboration with all levels of government in the ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity across the state.
Governor Bago made the call during a courtesy visit to the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora at his palace in Kontagora.
Expressing concern over the security challenges facing the Emirate, the governor stressed that a coordinated approach between government and traditional rulers is crucial to restoring peace and stability. He emphasized that traditional institutions must take proactive steps in safeguarding their communities, adding that they are expected to be accountable for the people under their jurisdiction.
He further assured the Emir and the people of continued government support and partnership in addressing the prevailing security concerns.
Earlier, the Madawakin Kontagora, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad, welcomed the governor and his delegation, commending them for the visit and pledging the Emirate’s unwavering support for his administration.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Council of Ulamas, Khalifa Sabiu Umar, lauded Governor Bago for his developmental strides, his commitment to the welfare of residents, and his consistent support for religious activities that promote peace and unity.
He assured the governor of their steadfast support and continuous prayers for the success of his administration.
The visit concluded with a special prayer session led by Khalifa Umar for the Emir, the Kontagora Emirate, Niger State, and the country at large.
