The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajuddeen, PhD, GCON, following the passing of his elder brother, Alhaji Aminu Pate.

Alhaji Pate, who held the traditional title of Wamban Dawakin Zazzau, died on Wednesday at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, at the age of 67.

In a condolence message delivered through his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Nuhu Basheer Masa, Dr. Imam described the late Alhaji Pate as a “devoted elder and icon of humanity” who left a lasting impact on his family, community, and colleagues.

Until his retirement, Alhaji Aminu Pate served as a Director in the Kaduna State Ministry of Local Government, with a career spanning several local government areas across the state. He is survived by wives, children, and grandchildren.

Dr. Imam expressed deep sympathy to the Speaker, the deceased’s younger brother Yahaya Pate—who also serves as the Speaker’s Personal Assistant—and the entire Pate family. He prayed for Allah (SWT) to grant the late Wamban Dawakin Zazzau eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.

“His humility, dedication to public service, and role as a family and community pillar will be remembered by all who knew him,” Dr. Imam said.

The condolences come as tributes continue to pour in from across the country for the late elder statesman and traditional title holder.
