Gusau – The Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Hurriya Lawal, on Monday distributed foodstuffs and festive items to 26 Christian communities across the state in celebration of the Christmas season. The gesture, aimed at promoting unity and peace, was warmly received by beneficiaries.
Speaking during the distribution, Mrs. Lawal urged Christian faithful to continue fostering harmony and preaching peace among their communities. “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all gathered here for this Christmas support distribution. This is a token of gratitude for your continued support to the government. From day one, you have remained pillars of peace, strength, and progress in homes and communities,” she said.
The beneficiaries included the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as well as Ibog, Yaruba, Dakkarawa, Igala, and Ibira communities. Other recipients included Market Women, Lawyers, Youths, Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, Bankers, and personnel from Media, Military, and Paramilitary agencies.
Each community or organization received a package comprising N1.4 million in cash, 14 bags of 50kg rice, cartons of sugar, cartons of Maggi seasoning, cartons of cooking oil, and other essential items to support Christian households during the festive season. Mrs. Lawal urged recipients to distribute the items to families with the fear of God, emphasizing that the initiative aimed to uplift communities celebrating Christmas across Zamfara.
Appreciating the gesture, Miss Lolo Isa, representative of CAN, praised the First Lady for demonstrating a spirit of togetherness and support for vulnerable groups. She added that the Christian community in Zamfara recognized the efforts of Governor Dauda Lawal in promoting meaningful development in the state. CAN also presented an award of excellence in humanitarian service to Hajiya Hurriya Lawal for her outstanding contributions to women and other vulnerable groups in Zamfara.
