The Kano Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has bestowed an Award of Excellence to the Founder and President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, for his immense contribution to professional growth of the chapel.
The presentation of the award was held during the 2025 Get-Together and Award Night organised by the Chapel at the Prince Palace Hotel, Kano on Sunday, 28th December 2025.
Prof. Gwarzo was ably represented at the occasion by Tukur Muntari Masanawa of the Corporate Communication and Protocol Unit, MAAUN, Kano.
Presenting the award, the Chapel’s chairman, Murtala Adewale said the decision to honor the awardee was in recognition of his enduring friendship, goodwill and invaluable support which contributed to the immense professional growth of the chapel.
Adewale noted that the award was also in recognition of Prof. Gwarzo's dedication and commitment to advancing education not only Nigeria but in the entire African continent.
“It's on record that Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo has contributed to the development of education in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.
He said the chapel will continue to partner with Maryam Abacha American University (MAAUN) for the mutual benefits of the two organizations.
In his remarks, Prof. Gwarzo expressed
gratitude to the chapel for considering him worthy of the award, and pledged continuous support for the chapel.
