The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for upholding the party’s position in a recent judgment.

The State Caretaker Chairman of the party, Alhassan Daudawa, made the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Gusau on Wednesday, saying the court victory has boosted the morale of party members at all levels.

He recalled that the Federal High Court, on Tuesday, dismissed a suit filed by Samuel Anyanwu seeking validation of his position as the National Secretary of the PDP.
Justice Mohammed Umar struck out the suit after counsel to the plaintiff disclosed that Anyanwu’s tenure as PDP National Secretary had expired in December 2025.

Listed as defendants in the suit were the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Umar Damagun, described as a factional National Chairman; Sunday Udeh-Okoye, PDP National Vice Chairman, South-East; Ali Odela, Deputy National Secretary; and Setonji Koshoedo, also a Deputy National Secretary.

Daudawa said the judgment was a positive development that would further strengthen the party’s internal administrative structures.
“We all have reasons to rejoice over this development because it is a plus towards consolidating our party’s internal administrative mechanisms. With this judgment, the party can now effectively sponsor candidates to contest for elective offices in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
According to him, all internal party organs, including the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees (BoT), and National Delegates, remain valid and functional.
Daudawa also congratulated the national leadership of the PDP and reaffirmed the Zamfara chapter’s loyalty to the leadership of the National Chairman, Senator Kabiru Turaki, whom he described as the authentic leader of the party.
