Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated the Muslim Ummah worldwide on the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan fast, which began on February 18, 2026, following the moon sighting and official declaration by the leadership of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

In a Ramadan message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor urged Muslim faithful to take advantage of the holy month, describing it as a special season for spiritual upliftment and renewed devotion to Allah.

He called on the Muslim Ummah to intensify prayers and supplications during the period, seeking divine intervention to bring lasting solutions to the security challenges bedevilling Niger State and other parts of the country.

Governor Bago also encouraged Muslims to pray for leaders at all levels for wisdom and guidance to formulate and implement policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of citizens.

Highlighting the inherent benefits of Ramadan, the governor reminded the Muslim Ummah of the need to sustain good habits cultivated during the fasting period and desist from negative practices.

He reassured the people of Niger State of his administration’s unwavering commitment to building a prosperous “New Niger” for the benefit of all.
