Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the appointment of Hamza Sarki Bello as the Managing Director of the Niger State Development Company (NSDC).
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Bologi Ibrahim.
According to the statement, Bello’s appointment is in recognition of his track record and is aligned with the administration’s New Niger Agenda aimed at repositioning and strengthening the state’s economy through accountability and improved service delivery.
Governor Bago congratulated the new managing director and urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him. He also assured Bello of his administration’s support to enable him to succeed in his new role.
Until his appointment, Bello had served in various capacities at both state and federal levels. He previously worked with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) in Abuja. He also served as Director-General of the Niger State One Stop Investment Centre and as Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger State Investment Promotion Agency.
A native of Paiko in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State, Bello holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He retired in 2025 as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Trade, Investment and Private Sector Development.
The appointment is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Bago administration to reposition key state-owned institutions for enhanced economic growth and investment drive.
