The National Hydro-Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC), in collaboration with the Kaduna State Ministry of Agriculture, has distributed 320 units of 13-horsepower power tillers to farmers from its host communities in Kaduna State as part of efforts to promote mechanized farming and enhance food security.
The distribution ceremony took place at the General Hassan Usman Katsina House in Kaduna and was attended by representatives of government agencies, development partners, traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, and beneficiaries from N-HYPPADEC's host communities.
The intervention is designed to boost agricultural productivity, reduce the challenges associated with manual farming, and improve the livelihoods of farmers through access to modern agricultural equipment. It also underscores N-HYPPADEC's commitment to supporting sustainable agricultural development and strengthening food security in hydroelectric power-producing communities.
Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the importance of mechanized agriculture in increasing food production and improving farmers' efficiency. They urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the equipment to maximize its impact on agricultural output.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of the power tillers to the beneficiaries.
