The Member representing Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti Bitrus Laori, has distributed relief materials to communities displaced by recent violent attacks in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The relief items, provided in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yola Operations Office, included bags of rice, beans, maize, tomato paste, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, salt, and detergents.
Representatives of Kwah, Gyakan, Waduku, Rigange, Bajen, Tingno Dutse, and other affected communities received the items on behalf of displaced residents.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Rt. Hon. Laori expressed deep sorrow over the recurring attacks and the displacement of innocent people, saying nothing pains him more than seeing his constituents live in fear and uncertainty. He said he wished he never had to distribute relief materials under such tragic circumstances, stressing that his greatest desire is to see a peaceful and secure constituency where families can live, farm, and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
The lawmaker urged residents to embrace dialogue, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that lasting peace remains the bedrock of sustainable development and prosperity.
He commended the Federal Government, the Adamawa State Government, and security agencies for their continued efforts to restore peace and protect lives and property.
Rt. Hon. Laori also expressed appreciation to the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for the agency's prompt intervention and swift approval of the relief materials, noting that the timely assistance would help ease the suffering of displaced families.
He further charged community representatives to ensure that the relief materials are distributed transparently, fairly, and strictly to the intended beneficiaries.
The distribution exercise was witnessed by officials of NEMA, the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), security agencies, community leaders, the Executive Chairman of Lamurde Local Government Area, Hon. Daniel Bulus, party leaders, and members of the press.
The lawmaker offered prayers for the peaceful repose of those who lost their lives in the attacks, wished the injured a speedy recovery, and prayed for the restoration of lasting peace, security, and harmony across the affected communities and the entire Lamurde Local Government Area.
