In a condolence message dated July 24, 2026, signed by Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, President of MAAUN, Kano, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, President and Founder of the MAAUN Group of Universities, described the news of Nata'ala's passing as heartbreaking.
According to the statement, the deceased successfully completed his university education at MAAUN Niger and went on to serve Nigeria through the NYSC scheme. He reportedly lost his life in a fatal motor accident while returning home after completing his national service last Saturday.
Speaking on behalf of the management, staff and students of the MAAUN Group of Universities, Professor Gwarzo extended his condolences to the deceased's father, Alhaji Mahmood Waziri Nata'ala, the entire Nata'ala family, friends, colleagues and all those affected by the loss.
The statement also conveyed sympathies to the MAAUN Niger community, noting that the institution had lost one of its distinguished alumni.
Professor Gwarzo described the late Nata'ala as a dedicated and persevering young man whose successful completion of his university education and national service reflected his commitment to serving society and contributing positively to his country.
"The untimely passing of Kamal Mahmood Nata'ala is a great loss to his family, friends, and the MAAUN community. He will be remembered for his dedication, perseverance, and the promising future that lay ahead of him," the statement read.
The university said it stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for Almighty God to grant the deceased eternal rest, forgive his shortcomings, and give his family and loved ones the strength, patience and courage to bear the loss.
