The Northern Youth Development Association (NYDA), headquartered in Zaria, Kaduna State, on July 19, 2026, held a unity and empowerment meeting aimed at promoting positive change among youths in Northern Nigeria.
The meeting was presided over by the Association's National President, Malam Abdulkadir Musa.
Our correspondent reports that the event took place at the office of the Sarkin Kudun Zazzau and District Head of Birnin da Kewaye, Alhaji Shehu Sambo Idris, in Dirimi, Zaria.
The gathering attracted male and female members of the association from across the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), Kano, Kaduna and other neighbouring states.
Following the opening prayer, the leadership outlined the objectives of the meeting. According to the organizers, the first objective was to reconnect and reactivate members across the country, while the second was to reaffirm the association's vision and bring together both founding and new members to strengthen its activities.
The association's leadership explained that its core mission is to unite the youths of Northern Nigeria while providing humanitarian support to orphans and other vulnerable members of society.
After motivational speeches by the association's leaders, invited guests were given the opportunity to share their views on the meeting and the organization's objectives.
Speaking at the event, one of the association's leaders and National Coordinator, Dr. Adamu Abdullahi, urged members to uphold the fear of God in all their activities and while representing the association.
He commended members for their commitment and unwavering support and prayed for the continued growth and success of the organization.
Also speaking, the National Chairman of the Hausa Association, Kaduna State Chapter, Comrade Abdulrahaman Yahaya, called on Northern youths to rise to the challenges confronting the region.
He described it as unfortunate that many young people had yet to learn from the difficulties facing the region, particularly the challenges of inadequate education and poor infrastructure.
He stressed the need for youths to embrace both formal education and vocational or technical skills, regardless of how modest such occupations may appear.
According to him, his organization would continue to enlighten and mobilize Northern youths while praying for God to grant them the strength and commitment to serve their communities and the nation.
Similarly, the Deputy Chairman of the Zaria Local Government Traders' Association and Kaduna State Chairman of the Northern Youth Development Association, Alhaji Dalhatu Tanko, reaffirmed the association's commitment to creating opportunities for young people.
He also urged members to demonstrate dedication, honesty and integrity in all their dealings.
The meeting featured an interactive question-and-answer session, after which participants took commemorative photographs at the District Head's office.
In an interview with our correspondent, the National President, Malam Abdulkadir Musa, said the association's doors remain open to every young person committed to the development of Northern Nigeria.
He stated that the association would continue to inspire and empower young people to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation.
He further explained that the association carries out humanitarian activities, including providing assistance to orphans and other vulnerable persons to improve their quality of life.
Malam Abdulkadir Musa urged members to remain worthy ambassadors of the association wherever they find themselves.
He also expressed appreciation to Dr. Adamu Abdullahi for his educational support to students in Zaria and neighbouring communities, describing his efforts as a significant contribution to the advancement of education in the area.
The National President concluded by praying for the safe return of all participants to their respective destinations.
Among the dignitaries who attended the meeting were traditional rulers and community leaders from Zaria and neighbouring communities.
The meeting ended peacefully and successfully.
