Following a DAILY STRUGGLE report highlighting the plight of three-year-old Habiba Rabilu, who is battling retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer, N1.4 million has been raised to fund the surgery required for her treatment.
Habiba, a native of Tsidir in Auyo Local Government Area of Jigawa State, is currently receiving treatment at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Her family had appealed for public support after doctors reportedly requested N1.4 million for the operation.
The initial appeal, which was published by DAILY STRUGGLE, drew the attention of individuals and groups who subsequently contributed towards the girl’s treatment.
A Good Samaritan later paid the full N1.4 million required for the surgery.
In addition, the Aikin Gayya WhatsApp group, coordinated by Mizta Kiristopa (Husaini Ahmad), contributed N147,000, while Facebook users also donated N15,000 towards the cause.
Speaking on the support received, Habiba’s father, Malam Rabilu, expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to his daughter’s treatment.
He commended the individuals and groups who responded to the appeal, praying that Allah rewards them abundantly for their generosity.
“We are grateful. We also appeal to everyone to continue praying for us. May Allah bring this matter to a successful conclusion,” he said.
The development comes as a significant relief to Habiba’s family, who had earlier appealed to the public for assistance due to their limited financial means.
DAILY STRUGGLE reports that the successful mobilisation of funds followed the publication of the girl’s plight and subsequent appeals for public assistance.
The family has continued to solicit prayers for Habiba as she awaits the necessary medical intervention.
