The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, has been confirmed dead after a brief illness.
Dr. Yusuf, who was the Talban Wushishi, hailed from Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State.
He was a former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State before defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the administration of former Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
An accomplished scholar and public servant, Dr. Yusuf obtained his Ph.D. from Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He also served as Special Adviser (Political) to the immediate past Governor of Niger State.
He previously served as the State Secretary of the PDP and Executive Chairman of Wushishi Local Government Area.
The late Dr. Aminu Yusuf was also one of the aides to Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, where he was involved in empowerment programmes in his boss’s constituency in Niger North Senatorial District of Niger State.
He was appointed Chairman of the National Population Commission following the death of Barrister Aliyu Detti, the Magayaki Minna.
