OhrAgric on Monday, August 10, 2026, organised a capacity-building workshop at the DevCom Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to raise awareness of the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy of Kaduna State.

The workshop was held under the theme, “Capacity Strengthening Workshop on Advocacy for the Full Implementation of the Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy, Kaduna State.”

The event focused on ways to empower women, particularly those engaged in small-scale businesses, by improving their access to business knowledge, skills development, opportunities and economic resources.

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy of Kaduna State is aimed at creating an enabling environment where women can thrive economically, establish and expand businesses, develop relevant skills and achieve greater self-reliance.

During the workshop, experts delivered presentations on various issues relating to women’s economic empowerment, as well as strategies for helping small-scale entrepreneurs overcome challenges and improve their businesses.

Among the speakers was Dr. Mustafa Adam of the Kaduna State Enterprises Development Agency (KADEDA), who spoke on strategies for strengthening and developing small businesses.

The Project Manager of OhrAgric, Mr. Wisdom, also spoke on how the WEE Policy could support women engaged in small-scale businesses.

He provided participants with information on strategies, planning and methodology, highlighting practical approaches to overcoming challenges, improving business performance and achieving positive change in the lives of women.

As part of the workshop, participants were assessed through tests designed to measure their understanding of the lessons delivered.

Two of the key areas covered during the training were linkages and networking, which were presented as important tools for strengthening businesses and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The assessment results indicated that the participants had a good understanding of the topics covered during the workshop.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Mr. Wisdom said the training was organised under a special programme supported by substantial funding to empower women engaged in small-scale businesses, particularly those with limited capital.

He explained that the workshop was aimed at creating awareness among members of the public, particularly women, and informing them about government policies and opportunities available to enable them to benefit from the Women’s Economic Empowerment Policy.

According to him, such workshops would help women better understand government programmes and take advantage of available opportunities to improve their livelihoods, expand their businesses and become more economically self-reliant.

The workshop concluded with participants gaining additional knowledge and practical skills aimed at helping them strengthen their businesses and contribute more effectively to economic development.
