Foreign ambassadors and representatives from several countries, as well as religious leaders, gathered in Abuja on Saturday evening as the Iran Cultural Center, under the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Nigeria, hosted a film screening depicting the life and history of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Beyond the screening itself, the gathering served as another platform for promoting friendship, strengthening cultural ties, and enhancing diplomatic relations between Iran, Nigeria, and other countries represented at the event.
In his opening remarks, the Head of Iran’s Cultural Center in Nigeria, Sayyed Hassan Heydar, said the gathering was an opportunity to celebrate culture, faith, and friendship among nations.
He described the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad as an exemplary model from which the world could learn, particularly in promoting peace, compassion, cooperation, and understanding between Muslim and non-Muslim nations, as well as standing against injustice and oppression.
Also speaking at the event, Sayyeda Rahma Abdulmajid, who represented Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commended the continuous progress being made in strengthening the longstanding friendship between Nigeria and Iran.
She called for further strengthening of the relationship in ways that would enable both countries to benefit from greater cooperation in the areas of culture, economic development, and religion.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, Sayyeda Rahma Abdulmajid, Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on Media and Broadcast, who also represented the President at the event, commended the film, which was directed by renowned Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi.
She also praised the growing diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Iran, stressing that her presence at the event demonstrated the cordial relationship between the two countries.
“Seeing me here as a representative of the President shows how good the relationship between Nigeria and Iran is. I’m here not on my own, but to represent the Federal Government.
“As we discussed with His Excellency, the Iranian Ambassador, a few weeks ago, we talked about the governments of Nigeria and Iran assigning some soft diplomatic memorandums to strengthen the relationship. So, there has been a very good relationship between our countries,” she said.
The event brought together diplomats and representatives from different countries, highlighting the role of cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement in building mutual understanding and strengthening international diplomacy.
