Men and women from different communities across Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State have benefited from free surgical procedures sponsored by Engr. Murtala Ibrahim Sheme.
The medical intervention was carried out on Sunday, 9 August 2026, at Shema Hospital, where Sheme sponsored surgical procedures for 200 men and women suffering from various health conditions.
The procedures included hernia repair and other surgical interventions for conditions requiring medical attention. The initiative provided much-needed relief to the beneficiaries, particularly those who could not afford the cost of surgery and other related medical expenses.
The support was not limited to a single community, as men and women from different parts of Faskari Local Government Area benefited from the initiative. Among the beneficiaries were Abdulsamad Umar and Abubakar Bishor from Faskari; Yahaya Musa from Daudawa; Magaji Audu and Sa’ade Ibrahim from Maigora; Bahari Musa from Dan Murai; Haruna Yakubu from Ruwan Godiya; and Hadiza Balarabe from Yankara, alongside many other members of the community.
For many of the beneficiaries, the support came at a crucial time when they needed surgical treatment but could not afford the associated costs.
Sponsoring medical treatment of this nature can have a significant impact on the lives of ordinary people. In many cases, the cost of surgery and other medical expenses can become a major obstacle, particularly for people with limited financial resources.
Through the initiative, many people gained access to the medical care they needed without having to bear the financial burden on their own. The gesture by Engr. Murtala Ibrahim Sheme demonstrates that community support can go beyond words and involve action, sacrifice and a commitment to improving people's lives.
The initiative brought relief and happiness to many of the patients who received treatment, while also highlighting the importance of supporting healthcare interventions aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by vulnerable members of society.
Some of the beneficiaries and community members who witnessed the initiative expressed their appreciation and prayed for Allah to reward Engr. Murtala Ibrahim Sheme abundantly for his support. Some people who could not benefit from the programme on this occasion also expressed hope that similar opportunities would be made available to them in the future.
The surgical exercise was carried out under the supervision and care of Ismail Yusif Sheme (AS), Ahmad Iliya Sheme and Abubakar Musa, alongside others who contributed to ensuring that the programme was conducted successfully and in an organised manner.
Prayers have been offered for everyone who contributed to the success of the initiative, with calls for Allah to reward them abundantly and grant them the ability to continue supporting those in need.
May Allah grant all the patients who underwent surgery a complete recovery, ease their difficulties, and make this humanitarian effort a source of blessings and lasting benefit to the community. Ameen.
“Supporting healthcare means helping to save lives; supporting the vulnerable is a true expression of compassion and humanity.”
