Followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky under the Mahdi Zone have organised a grand Mawlid celebration to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

The event was held in Marmara community, Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on August 22, 2026, corresponding to the 9th of Rabi’ul-Awwal.

The celebration was attended by Islamic scholars and a large number of people from different communities.

The event opened with a prayer led by Malam Abdullahi Muhammad, followed by a special procession as part of the Mawlid activities.

Subsequently, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Fasihullisan from Kaduna delivered the main lecture of the year’s Mawlid celebration, speaking on the special blessings Allah Almighty bestowed upon Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.).

Sheikh Fasihullisan explained that among the miracles and virtues granted to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) were matters relating to knowledge of what had occurred before him and what would come after him.

He also narrated a historical account in which, according to him, Allah Almighty informed Prophet Adam (A.S.) that the creation of the heavens and the earth was connected with Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and the Ahlul Bayt, including Ali, Fatima, Hassan and Hussain.

The scholar further spoke extensively on the importance of upholding the honour of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and following his teachings in order to attain success in this world and the hereafter.

Prominent scholars and representatives from different areas attended the event. They included Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello, representative of the Zaria followers; Sheikh Sunusi Usman, Imam of Sabon Gari Mosque; Salihu Garba from Darul-Mahdi; Sister Aisha from Sabon Gari; and Sister Hafsat Rilwan from Zaria.

In his remarks, Sheikh Abdulhamid Bello urged the people to return to adherence to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and uphold love for his household.

Sheikh Abdulhamid added that responding to Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky’s call to strengthen love for and adherence to the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt was among the measures that could contribute to improving people’s lives in this world and the hereafter.

Following the lectures, the organising committee presented awards and gifts to some distinguished guests as a gesture of appreciation and respect.

Those honoured included Sheikh Muhammad Sani Fasihullisan, the Sarkin Marmara, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi, as well as other prominent men and women who attended the event.

Participants in the procession and performers also presented special activities to add colour and excitement to the celebration.

The event was organised by the Mawlid Organising Committee of the Zaria District, led by Malam Abdulra’uf Hudu of Sabon Gari.

At the end of the programme, the chairman of the organising committee expressed appreciation to all the guests who responded to the invitation.

Speaking to journalists, the committee chairman said bringing together scholars with different perspectives at such gatherings helps promote mutual understanding and strengthen unity among members of the community.

He said the committee would continue to contribute to promoting love and respect for Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and fostering unity among the people.

The celebration ended peacefully, with participants departing safely.
