Doma United football club (FC) of Gombe has emerged champions of the 2023 second edition of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Gusau/Ahlan pre-season football tournament in Bauchi.
Doma United FC emerged as winners in a penalty shootout against Plateau United FC in the final match at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi.
While Elkanemi Warriors Mailantarki FC of Maiduguri defeated Katsina United FC to clinch a Bronze medal at the tournament.
The NFF president Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau represented Dr. Sharrif Ahlan at the closing ceremony of the tournament.
Gusau said the competition would prepare the clubs for the Nigeria National League (NNL) and Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
"It also helps to discover young football talents from the grassroots in the various states that participate in the tournament," he said.
He lauded the local organizers and participating clubs for conducting a peaceful and successful tournament.
This medium reports that seven teams participated in the competition including Doma United FC Gombe, Mailantarki FC of Abuja, and Kano Pillars FC.
Adamawa Selected FC, Younger Generation FC, Elkanemi Warriors FC, WIkki Tourists FC and Bauchi Selected.
