Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba of Niger State represented Governor Muhammad Umar Bago at the first Annual Lecture and Dinner of the Niger State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, held at the Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center in Minna.

In his speech, Deputy Governor Garba reiterated the theme of the lecture, "The Imperatives for Economic Growth and Development in Niger State: Contemporary Issues for Sustainable Development," emphasizing the urgent need to implement strategies outlined in the New Niger Agenda. These strategies aim to promote sustainability, economic opportunity, and inclusiveness.

He emphasized that harnessing resources for the benefit of all requires careful planning, effective policies, and collaboration with organized private sector players. Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector as drivers of economic growth and prosperity, he stressed the importance of creating opportunities for the people of Niger State.

Deputy Governor Garba highlighted the importance of creating a conducive business environment that encourages investment, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasized the aim of fostering economic diversification and job creation across various sectors of the state's economy through a holistic approach that balances governance with environmental stewardship and social justice, particularly in mitigating climate change and empowering communities.

Keynote speakers, including former Minister of Trade and Industry Engineer Mustapha Bello and former Minister of Sports Engineer Sani Ndanusa, encouraged the State Chamber of Commerce to champion private sector participation in the digital economy and address insecurity to achieve the state's agricultural production goals. Ambassador Zubairu Dada emphasized the need for synergy between the state government and the private sector to stimulate the state's economy in line with the New Niger Agenda.

Other participants included the Niger State Commissioner of Small Medium Enterprises (SME), Hon. Elizabeth Shaba, and the State Commissioner of Commerce, Trade, Investment, Industry, and Private Sector Development, represented by its Permanent Secretary. Notable attendees also included the President of the State Chamber of Commerce, Bisi Adeniyi, Guest Speaker Suleiman Ndanusa, and Abdullahi Suleiman, chairman of the Lecture and Dinner.
