Construction of the Hajj Terminal at Minna's Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport has finally gained momentum after years of delay. The federal government awarded the contract in 2012, but work failed to commence. However, when Governor Mohammed Umar Bago took office, the state government took over the project. They reevaluated the contract and made significant progress in its construction.
The state government's intervention is a continuation of its efforts to improve air transportation in the state. Governor Mohammed Bago had previously taken over the International Airport project. He reconstructed part of the runway, remodeled the domestic terminal, and renamed it Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport.
The ongoing construction of the Hajj terminal is expected to provide a dedicated facility for pilgrims upon its completion.
