Engie Energy Access conducted a one-week Corporate Social Responsibility project. The program sponsored 15 talented engineering students from across the country while promoting diversity and inclusion.
The projects aimed at engaging students with hands-on learning, interactive sessions and networking opportunities with highly skilled and professional industry experts while inspiring the students to become a highly trained generation of Engineers.
Energy Access and Sustainability were extensively discussed on the first day of the program, where engaging lectures covered various topics ranging from the intricacies of the Nigerian Power sector to renewable energy and career pathways in the field.
The second day was for valuable insight and practical aspects where safety moments in an engineering organisation ensuring a commitment to a safe learning environment were discussed. An overview of Nigeria's Electricity regulations was digested setting the stage for understanding of industry standards.
Exciting world PV solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) were highlighted, shedding light on renewable energy solutions. Students were shown an impressive range of products, showcasing innovation and sustainability in action.
A factor acceptance test was conducted on the third day, during which a practical session took place. Students were allowed to put their theoretical knowledge into practice, aiming to sharpen their skills and bridge the gap between theory and practice.
The fourth day was the last day where the students presented and defended a case study given to them on energy survey and system sizing which exposed them to different ideas and encouraged them to have more composure to the technical environment.
The closing ceremony and presentation of certificates to the participants took place on the fifth day when the students said farewell to their tutors and mentors after having a series of cross-sections.
This maiden programme aimed to fill the bridge between academia and industry in a bid to avoid having graduates with zero experience in their field of study. This will give the students an opportunity to put into practice the theory acquired during their school days.
Renewable Energy is a very important aspect of technology that needs to have several investments in it in order to be going hand in hand with other developing countries.
Considering the fact that global activities are transforming into using new versions of technology that is renewable energy dominated. This is a crucial step towards a sustainable future and mitigating climate change.
As we develop into using more renewable energy, we are building a more resilient and environmentally conscious society, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.
Engie Energy Access deserves applause for sponsoring and organising this Corporate Social Responsibility project.
