Acting Governor of Niger State, Comrade Yakubu Garba, has lauded Nigeria's former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as a bridge builder who has played a pivotal role in maintaining Nigeria's unity.
The Acting Governor made this statement during a state government delegation's visit to Gen. Babangida at his uphill residence in Minna, in celebration of the General's 83rd birthday.
Comrade Garba described Gen. Babangida as a blessing to Nigeria, highlighting the crucial roles he played in preserving the nation's unity and the significant achievements in infrastructure and human capital development during his tenure as Military President.
He noted that the Niger State government has greatly benefited from the elder statesman's wisdom and experience and expressed the state's intention to continue seeking his guidance.
The Acting Governor also expressed gratitude to Allah for preserving Gen. Babangida's life and prayed for continued divine mercy upon him.
To mark the occasion, Comrade Garba presented a portrait of the General as a birthday gift.
Among the state government's delegation were the Commissioner for Information, Hajiya Binta Mamman; Commissioner for Homeland Security, Gen. Muhammad Bello (Rtd); Commissioner for Lands, Maurice Magaji; Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Hajiya Fatima Adamu; and Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Umar Sanda Rebe, along with other principal officers.
