Leadership is about inspiring others to reach their full potential and achieve success. One of the key elements of successful leadership is passion—an enthusiastic drive to make a positive difference.

Leaders who are passionate about their work and goals can motivate and engage their teams, fostering a positive and productive environment. These leaders, driven by their vision and desire to create a positive impact, often communicate in ways that inspire and energize others, creating a shared sense of purpose and direction. This enthusiasm tends to be contagious, spreading through the team and creating a culture of excitement and commitment.

Passionate leaders demonstrate a deep commitment to their work and goals, taking risks and putting in extra effort to achieve success, inspiring their teams to do the same. Such leadership builds a culture of resilience, where challenges are seen as opportunities for growth.

To develop passion as a leader, focus on these key areas:

Find Your Purpose: Reflect on what drives you and what you want to achieve in your work.

Communicate Your Vision: Work on articulating your goals in a way that resonates with your team.

Lead by Example: Model the behaviors and attitudes you wish to see in your team.

Encourage Risk-Taking: Create a culture of innovation, encouraging your team to step outside their comfort zones.

Celebrate Success: Acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of your team.

Passionate leadership and impactful outcomes go hand in hand, enabling leaders to create environments where success thrives.

In light of this, political analysts have urged President Tinubu to recognize Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura's unwavering commitment and loyalty by appointing him as the next National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Nasarawa State, which has been a stronghold of the APC since its inception as the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), has produced leaders like Al-Makura, who is often regarded as the political "first son" of President Muhammadu Buhari. Al-Makura's ideological commitment has significantly contributed to the party's growth and success.

A Look at Al-Makura’s Political Journey

Al-Makura's political career began in the 1980s when he served as the youth leader of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the former Plateau State. His early involvement in politics earned him a seat on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPN during the Second Republic. Between 1990 and 1992, he served as the state secretary of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) in the old Plateau State while actively engaging in real estate ventures both at home and abroad.

In 2011, Al-Makura became the Governor of Nasarawa State, serving two terms and eventually representing Nasarawa South as a Senator. He was the only CPC governor involved in the 2014 merger talks that formed the APC, a testament to his commitment to the party’s development.

Political analysts believe that as the APC searches for a new national chairman, Al-Makura’s contributions to the party make him a deserving candidate for this position. His leadership has been instrumental in nurturing the APC, the party that brought President Buhari to power.

Why Al-Makura?

It is worth noting that among the three main parties that merged to form the APC, the CPC has yet to produce a National Chairman. Al-Makura, with his deep roots in the CPC and significant contributions to the APC's development, is seen as a fitting choice for the role.

The APC's first chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, came from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). He was succeeded by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun from the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), followed by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, also from the ACN. Even the current interim National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, has ties to both the ACN and ANPP. Thus, political leaders from Nasarawa State, including Governor Abdullahi Sule, have called for special recognition of members from the defunct CPC and advocated for Nasarawa State to be given its due in party leadership.

Al-Makura’s Ongoing Commitment

Senator Al-Makura has pledged continued support for the APC and its leadership, stating that Nasarawa State will remain aligned with the party’s ideologies and goals. He has also lauded the peaceful conduct of the APC's revalidation and registration exercise, urging party members in Nasarawa to participate actively.

The people of Nasarawa State have consistently recognized Senator Al-Makura for his leadership and contributions, describing him as a true democrat and an advocate for the state’s development. His tenure as Governor saw significant infrastructural improvements, and his leadership style has left an indelible mark on the state’s political landscape.

Conclusion

Senator Umar Tanko Al-Makura’s leadership, characterized by humility, dedication, and a deep commitment to development, has made him a standout figure in Nasarawa State and Nigerian politics. His track record as Governor and Senator, coupled with his loyalty to the APC, positions him as a prime candidate for the National Chairmanship of the party. The people of Nasarawa and political analysts alike believe that Al-Makura deserves to be recognized and rewarded for his contributions to the APC’s success and the nation’s political stability.
