The North East Youth Ambassadors, a political pressure group, has urged senators in the Upper Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly to emulate Senator Shehu Buba Umar, who represents Bauchi South senatorial district, in delivering democracy dividends to their constituents.
The zonal chairman of the group, Mallam Haruna Mohammed, who issued this challenge, noted that no senator since the advent of Nigeria’s nascent democracy in 1999 has provided such substantial democracy dividends as Senator Buba Umar is currently doing.
In a chat with newsmen in Bauchi on Thursday, Mallam Haruna Mohammed disclosed that Senator Buba recently completed the distribution of twelve trailers of fertilizer to farmers in his constituency.
He further revealed that another batch of 20 trailers of rice has arrived in Bauchi and distribution has begun, not only to the electorate but also to the most vulnerable residents, as part of efforts to mitigate the ongoing economic challenges.
Mohammed explained that the democracy dividends provided by the Bauchi South Senator are being distributed not only within his constituency but across the entire state.
According to him, the Senator is ensuring that fertilizer is readily available to his constituents to boost agricultural production and facilitate the attainment of food security for the state and the country at large.
“There has never been a time in the political history of the Northeast geo-political zone when a senator of Shehu Buba Umar's calibre provided democracy dividends as he is now doing,” Mallam Haruna Mohammed remarked.
He, therefore, appealed to the people, especially the electorate in the state, to rally around Senator Shehu Buba Umar’s efforts to uplift their living standards.
