The local government elections in Bauchi State, held on Saturday, 17th August 2024, were overshadowed by allegations of widespread irregularities, including underage voting.
Hon. Abdulmumini Hassan, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ningi Local Government, accused the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of rigging the election.
Speaking to journalists in Ningi, Hon. Abdulmumini Hassan expressed deep concerns, asserting that the election process had been compromised by irregularities even before the official results were announced.
Our reporters, stationed at various polling units, also observed instances of underage voting, irregularities, and the late arrival of BASIEC officials at several polling stations.
Underage voters were seen casting ballots for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in several polling units across Ningi Ward.
Video footage captured children at Maciya Polling Unit, Senior Primary School Polling Unit, and Bunusai Polling Unit in both Ningi West and Ningi East Wards, illegally voting for PDP candidates.
