Silas Agara, the Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), has announced that his organization is implementing strategic measures to combat unemployment in Nigeria. These efforts are aimed at bolstering resilience and promoting a sustainable economy, in alignment with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu's policy priorities.

Agara made this statement during a meeting with various groups who visited him at his residence in Akwanga on Saturday to express solidarity following his recent appointment by President Tinubu.

Among the visitors were members of the Ekye Peace and Unity Forum from Doma Local Government, a delegation from the family of the late Zakari Idde, the team behind the #Webelieve project 2019, and representatives from the Foundation for Justice, Development, and Peace (FJDP), among others.

Addressing the visitors, Agara emphasized his commitment to collaborating with any organization that aligns with the objectives set forth by the NDE Act. He clarified that the NDE’s mandate is not to provide direct employment but to create opportunities by equipping youths with entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to become job creators rather than mere job seekers.

He further disclosed that, in the coming months, the Directorate will conduct feasibility studies across each local government area in Nigeria. This initiative aims to identify and tailor programs to meet the specific needs of each region before the end of the year.

God'spower Ede, leader of the Ekye Peace and Unity Forum, and other group leaders, praised Silas Agara for his exceptional leadership and impressive track record. They urged him to seize this opportunity to uplift unemployed youths in Nasarawa State and beyond.
