The Jigawa State Government has announced a partnership with Safa and Fresh International Limited, an Indigenous energy company, to establish Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion centers in all 27 local government areas of the state.

This was disclosed during the commissioning of a new petrol filling station owned by the company on Wednesday in Dutse, the state capital.

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Safa and Fresh International Limited, Ibrahim Yusuf Ibrahim, expressed the company’s commitment to investing in Jigawa State through the creation of CNG conversion stations. He also announced plans to train 100 youths in each local government area as technicians, providing job opportunities and enhancing technical skills among the local workforce.

Governor Umar Namadi, who attended the ceremony, praised the investment initiative, stating that it aligns with the state government’s 12-point agenda, which emphasizes job creation and economic development.

He further highlighted Jigawa's progressive policies on public-private partnerships (PPP) and encouraged Safa and Fresh Limited to explore the JigawaInvest platform for further opportunities.

"Your plan to establish CNG stations across all 27 local government areas is a welcome development. The Jigawa State Executive Council has already resolved to set up CNG stations to mitigate the hardship caused by rising petroleum prices. We are ready to partner with you in this initiative, offering you majority shareholding in the company. Our priority is to ensure the best outcomes for our people, and we will fully support you in this endeavour," Governor Namadi stated.

The governor emphasized that establishing CNG stations could reduce fuel costs by up to 60%, providing significant relief to residents. He also commended Ibrahim Yusuf Ibrahim for his dedication to the state's growth and development and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering private investment.

"Jigawa State ranks second in Nigeria for ease of doing business, and we are determined to reach the number one spot, insha'Allah. This partnership is a step toward achieving that goal. With the current petroleum prices and our shared commitment, we are confident this initiative will help reduce poverty and create more opportunities for our people," Governor Namadi concluded.
