In a decisive move, the National Executive Council (N.E.C) of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) has dissolved the executive structure of its Oyo State branch.
This decision was made during the N.E.C meeting held on August 29, 2024, at the National Headquarters.
The dissolution, which was communicated in a statement issued by the National President, Alhaji (Dr.) Musa Muhammed (Maitakobi), and the National Secretary General, Comrade Yusuf Ibrahim Adeniyi, was carried out in accordance with Article 9: d (ii) of the Association's Constitution.
The reason cited for this action was the non-functionality of the state executives, who have reportedly failed to attend N.E.C meetings for over six months without any valid explanation.
In the interim, a committee will be established to manage the affairs of the Oyo State branch until a new set of executives is elected as stipulated by the Association's constitution. The statement emphasized that the current executives of the Oyo State branch are officially relieved of their duties as per Article 9: (b) of the constitution.
The leadership of RTEAN expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of its members during this transitional period.
