In the wake of the October 19, 2024, local government elections in Kaduna State, political leaders have hailed the process as a triumph of democracy.
In a press release issued by the Amalgamation of Political Party Leaders in Kaduna State, the coalition expressed deep satisfaction with the conduct of the election, praising the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the exercise.
"We would like to extend our profound commendation to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for the successful conduct of a free, fair, and credible election," the group said, adding that the commission’s efforts to uphold democratic principles and provide a level playing field for all political parties were exemplary.
The statement went further to acknowledge the crucial role played by the electorate, who turned out in large numbers to exercise their civic rights. The leaders commended the people of Kaduna for their peaceful participation, stating, "Your active participation in this election, by turning out in large numbers to exercise your civic rights, has demonstrated your dedication to choosing credible leaders for the development of our communities."
The Amalgamation also extended congratulations to the newly elected local government chairmen and councilors, urging them to fulfill the promises made during their campaigns. “The trust placed in you by the people of your respective communities is a great responsibility,” the statement read. "We urge you to be good ambassadors of Kaduna State, to lead with integrity, and to deliver on your promises."
The press release concluded with a call for continued collaboration to ensure the future progress of Kaduna State. "We believe that with collaboration, dedication, and leadership that prioritizes the people, the future of Kaduna State is bright."
Signed by Dr. Isa Ahmad Janflan, Chairman of the coalition, the statement emphasized the critical importance of good governance at the local government level in determining the overall development of the state.
