Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has donated N18 million to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kebbi State branch, to help settle debts incurred by the State Christian Pilgrims Affairs Committee.

The governor made the announcement while receiving the CAN leadership, led by its Chairman, Rev. Dr. Ayuba Y. Kanta, during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

Dr. Idris also approved plots of land for use as a cemetery and pledged support for the construction of a CAN secretariat in the state. Additionally, he appointed Mr. Joel Aiki, former Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Agriculture, as Special Adviser on Food and Nutrition.

Rev. Kanta commended the governor for his inclusive governance, recognizing the political roles given to Christians and applauding his efforts in promoting peace, particularly in the Southern region of Kebbi, once plagued by kidnappings. The restored peace has allowed many displaced residents to return to their homes and resume farming.
