The Niger State Government is deepening its partnership with Kent State University, aiming to create new opportunities in higher education, development, business, and investment between Niger State, Kent State University, and the Ohio Department of Development.
Led by Hon. Mustapha Ndajiwo, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, the Niger State delegation included Special Advisers Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, Hauwa Bako, and Abdulakeem Oshinuga. The team held discussions with representatives from Kent State’s Office of Global Education, Ohio's Department of Administration, the Governor’s Office, and the university's Provost.
As part of this collaboration, Hon. Ndajiwo signed a Letter of Intent with Kent State’s Provost, following up on a previously signed Global MoU by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago. The partnership’s pilot phase will launch at the Centre for Education and Development at Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna.
One key program is a "two-plus-two" degree initiative, allowing students to complete two years of undergraduate study in Niger State and the final two years in the U.S., at half the tuition cost. Students also have the option to complete their studies fully online, earning a U.S. degree or a dual degree.
Other areas of collaboration include student and faculty exchange programs, leadership training, vocational skills development, aviation studies, fashion, sports, and investment opportunities through the State of Ohio.
This growing partnership is poised to deliver significant benefits across various sectors in Niger State.
