Students from Special Education Secondary School Tudun Maliki, Kano, are set to compete in the 6th edition of the National Deaf Secondary Schools Football Championship, tagged "A.A. Sule Cup 2024."

The competition, organized by the Nigeria Deaf Football Association, aims to promote inclusivity, empowerment, and talent development among deaf students nationwide.

In a statement signed by the Secretary-General of the Association, Mr. Nahemiah Daret, and made available to The Blinkers Magazine, it was announced that the championship will take place from December 5 to 15, 2024, at the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa State. Governor A.A. Sule of Nasarawa State is expected to declare the tournament open, with dignitaries from across the country in attendance.

The Secretary-General also revealed that invitational letters had been sent to various state governments to encourage their support for deaf football students, with the goal of motivating them to excel.

Commenting on Kano State’s participation, the Director of Sports in the Kano State Ministry of Education, Malam Ibrahim Bello, described the tournament as a platform to inspire and motivate deaf students to showcase their talents. He further disclosed that the ministry’s coaching crew has already begun preparations, including an open camp for the students from Special Education Secondary School Tudun Maliki.

Malam Ibrahim Bello expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the State Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, for their support. He assured that every effort would be made to ensure the development of sports for students in Kano State and contribute to the advancement of sports in Nigeria.
