The Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced ₦8.4 million as the initial deposit for the 2025/1446 Hajj fare for intending pilgrims from the state.
In a press release signed by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo, the announcement follows a directive from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), which set ₦8.4 million as the deposit for intending pilgrims. The statement, issued by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, also disclosed that NAHCON has allocated 4,503 seats to Niger State for the upcoming Hajj.
Sheikh Aliyu explained that the Board has introduced an installment payment plan through Area Pilgrims Welfare Officers (APWOs) to ease the financial burden and encourage more individuals to fulfill their religious obligations. Intending pilgrims can now make smaller, incremental payments to complete the total fare.
To streamline the registration process, the Board has transitioned to an electronic transaction system, moving away from the traditional bank draft method. All intending pilgrims must possess a valid E-passport before registering and making payments. Sheikh Aliyu emphasized that the E-passport number will serve as the payment narration, with the bank teller acting as proof of the transaction.
The Board will also evaluate the health status of all intending pilgrims to confirm their eligibility at both the local government and state levels. Detailed guidelines and support will be provided to assist pilgrims throughout the payment process and beyond, ensuring a smooth and well-informed preparation for the spiritual journey.
For further inquiries and updates, intending pilgrims and members of the public are encouraged to tune in to the Board’s phone-in radio programs on various stations across the state. Jingles in four languages are also being aired on local radio, and updates can be accessed via the Board’s social media platforms.
