The Niger State Government has expressed gratitude for the robust support and cooperation of stakeholders in anticipation of the upcoming pastoralist data collection exercise across the state.

The Commissioner for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Umar Ahmad Sanda Rebe, conveyed the government’s appreciation during stakeholder engagements held at the secretariats of Bosso, Chanchaga, and Paikoro Local Government Areas.

According to the Commissioner, the meetings were organized to brief stakeholders on the details of the exercise and to ensure their active participation. He encouraged stakeholders to engage fully in the initiative, noting that the Federal Government is preparing to roll out policies aimed at transforming and revitalizing the pastoral sector. He added that the ministry is currently in the planning phase, with data collection expected to follow soon.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Salihu Alfa, emphasized that the data collection exercise aims to evaluate the economic capacity of pastoralists in Niger State. He also noted that the initiative is in line with the New Niger Agenda championed by Governor Umar Mohammed Bago and highlighted the significant progress made in preparation for the exercise.

In his remarks, Isah Mohammed, representing the Vice Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government, commended the state government for the initiative and assured stakeholders of the local government’s full support to ensure its successful implementation.
