The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oloyede, has inaugurated a solar-powered borehole project in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Represented by the Commandant of Depot Nigerian Army (NA), Major General M.A. Abdullahi, the Chief of Army Staff stated that the project was initiated as a way to give back to the host community. The gesture marks a century of cordial relations and peaceful coexistence between the Nigerian Army and the people of Zaria.

Major General Abdullahi acknowledged the unwavering support of the Sabon Gari community and the larger Zaria City over the years. “Depot Nigerian Army is celebrating its historic 100 years of existence with its host community,” he said. “It becomes necessary to reciprocate the warm embrace you have extended to the Nigerian Army throughout these years.”

He further expressed gratitude on behalf of the Army, stating, “The Nigerian Army is deeply appreciative of your hospitality and looks forward to an even more rewarding relationship with the people of Sabon Gari and Zaria as a whole.”

General Abdullahi expressed hope that the solar-powered water project would significantly enhance the lives of the people in Sabon Gari and foster continued collaboration for the nation’s progress.

In his remarks, Hussaini Abdullahi, the ward head of the Unguwar Kanawa community, praised the Army for its thoughtful initiative. He also noted the Army’s previous efforts, including a similar water project at Jushin Waje and the distribution of medical supplies in Sabon Gari Local Government.

The ward head assured the Chief of Army Staff that the community would ensure the proper and judicious use of the new facility.
