The Niger State Government has signed a partnership agreement with an international agricultural company, Jade Partners, to establish a 5,000-hectare sesame production project.

The agreement, finalized at the Government House in Minna, was facilitated in collaboration with Niger Foods and Security Systems and Logistics Ltd.

The initiative, supported by the Niger State Government, aims to empower local farmers by providing modern farming techniques, essential inputs, and guaranteed off-take for their harvests. The project also seeks to create job opportunities, boost sesame production, and position Niger State as a hub for high-quality sesame cultivation.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the agreement as a testament to the state government's commitment to advancing agricultural development and creating economic opportunities for its citizens.

The Executive Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, called the initiative a "game-changer" for farmers in Niger State. He highlighted its potential to position the state as a leader in sustainable sesame production, enhance rural development, and solidify Nigeria’s role as a top global sesame exporter.

This partnership represents a significant step toward transforming Niger State’s agricultural sector and boosting its economic standing on both national and international platforms.
