The Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, under the leadership of Director-General Imam Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi, MPI, has partnered with the Department of Moderate Islamic Culture of the International Islamic Charitable Organization to train 50 Imams across the state.
The training program was officially inaugurated yesterday at Gidan Matasa in Minna, Niger State, with a focus on enhancing the capacity and development of Islamic leaders.
Speaking at the event, Imam Dr. Umar Farooq Abdullahi expressed his excitement about the collaboration, which he described as a significant milestone. "Imams are the mirror of Islam, and any error in their prayers can have far-reaching consequences," he stated, emphasizing the importance of equipping religious leaders with the right tools and knowledge.
He extended his gratitude to the Islamic Education Trust (IET) for their contributions, particularly for developing high-quality training materials. Dr. Abdullahi encouraged the participating Imams to fully engage in the sessions, noting that "no knowledge is ever wasted, and learning has no limits."
He also assured the trainees of full support during the program, including the provision of meals and transportation allowances upon successful completion. The program was officially declared open with the recitation of Bismillah Ar-Rahman Ar-Raheem.
Notable attendees included Sheikh Abdulwasia Zubairu Adesina (Country Director, International Islamic Charitable Organization), Sheikh Muhammad Adam Bosso (Deputy Chairman, National Association of Muhammadiyyah School Teachers, Niger State), Ibrahim Khalil Muhammad (DIN/IET), and the Head of Da’wah at the International Islamic Charitable Organization (Nigeria Office), among others.
The initiative underscores a commitment to fostering a well-informed and capable generation of Islamic leaders in Niger State.
