The Niger State Government has alerted the public to a fraudulent online portal circulating on social media, falsely claiming to be a registration platform for a Niger State Youth Empowerment and Farmers' Grant Programme.
In a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, the government clarified that no such registration portal has been launched for Youth Empowerment or Farmers' Grant at this time.
The SSG described the portal as the work of unscrupulous individuals aiming to defraud unsuspecting citizens. He urged the public to ignore any messages, links, or information related to the fake grant programme and to avoid submitting personal information on such platforms.
“The Niger State Government wishes to emphasize that all legitimate government programmes and initiatives are announced through official channels, including the State Government's official website and verified social media platforms. Any empowerment programme will be communicated properly through these official channels,” the statement read.
Alhaji Usman called on members of the public to report any suspicious links or activities related to this fraudulent scheme to the appropriate security agencies. He also advised citizens to remain vigilant against similar scams that exploit the name of the government.
The Niger State Government reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and assured the public that all genuine initiatives would be communicated through verified and reliable means.
