Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris has appealed to the Nigeria Army to deploy more personnel to the state to effectively tackle the security challenges bedeviling some parts of the state.

The governor made the plea on Thursday while receiving the GOC 8 Division, Nigeria Army and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Fansar Yaman, Maj-Gen. Ibikunle Ademola Ajose on a courtesy at Government House chamber in Birnin Kebbi.

He observed that additional personnel would complement the efforts of the existing security operatives operating in the state.

Gov. Idris, however, commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their commitment towards ensuring a crime-free society.

"Let me use this medium to commend the CO in charge of Birnin Kebbi Battalion for his prompt response to any security breach. I must confess to you that Kebbi is 90 per cent crime-free due to the support of your men and other security agencies in the state," he assured.

The governor also assured the GOC that his administration would do everything possible to partner with the Nigeria Army and other security agencies in fighting crimes and criminalities, saying, "I am ready to support you people in any of ramifications."

Earlier, the GOC 8 Division Nigeria Army and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Fansar Yaman, Maj.-Gen. Ibikunle Ademola Ajose thanked the governor for his continued support to security agencies, adding that more efforts would be put in place to ensure that the issue of Lakurawa sect becomes a thing of past.
"I am here for unit assessment, to know the performance of my men, most especially in Arugungu, Arewa and other parts of the state. I visited Zuru Barrack too," he said.

He then assured the governor of the readiness of his men to beef up the security of lives and property in their areas of operations.
