The National President of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Baba Othman Ngelzarma, has assured the association's unwavering support for the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to promote peace and cooperation between farmers and herders in Niger State.

Ngelzarma made this commitment during a sympathy visit to Governor Bago following the tragic tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, which claimed numerous lives on Saturday.

Expressing his appreciation for Governor Bago’s inclusive leadership, Ngelzarma commended the governor’s efforts in integrating the Fulani community into the governance structure. He highlighted the establishment of the Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs Ministry and livestock sub-sectors as progressive initiatives that address historical disparities between the livestock and agricultural sectors.

"We commend your remarkable leadership and infrastructural development efforts. The Fulani community is grateful for your recognition and inclusion, and we assure you of our commitment to peaceful coexistence with farmers,” Ngelzarma said.

He also offered prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives in the explosion, as well as for the quick recovery of the injured and comfort for their families.

In response, Governor Bago expressed gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the positive relationship between the Fulani community and other groups in the state. He emphasized his administration's dedication to bridging gaps and addressing the needs of historically marginalized communities.

"The Fulani people have long been overlooked in terms of access to basic amenities. My administration is determined to change that narrative. We have taken steps, including the creation of the Ministry of Nomadic and Pastoral Affairs, to end conflicts and promote mutual understanding,” the governor said.

In addition to MACBAN's visit, other dignitaries, including Senator Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger North, Member of the House of Representatives Muktar Aliyu Betera, and the Dujima of Adamawa, Musa Halilu, also paid condolence visits to Governor Bago to express their support and sympathies over the Dikko Junction tragedy.
