The Kabir Abubakar Bichi Foundation, chaired by Dr. Habibu Usman Abdu, has allocated ₦9.64 million to provide stipends to indigent science and technical boarding school students in Bichi. The initiative, launched on Saturday at FCE T Bichi, offers ₦20,000 each to beneficiaries, continuing a long-standing tradition by Rep Abubakar Kabir Abubakar to support students at the start of every school term.

In his address, Rep Abubakar urged students to prioritize their education and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting their academic pursuits. He also announced plans to renovate eight secondary schools in his constituency and sponsor local students, particularly women, for tertiary education in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

“Our aim is to produce more engineers and doctors. Renovating schools will ensure students no longer sit on the floor or study in classrooms with damaged roofs,” he stated. “We’ll also upgrade hostels to provide comfortable living conditions.”

Rep Abubakar revealed that the federal government has allocated over ₦1.5 billion for the renovation of Dawakin Tofa Science College, GSS Bichi, and Dan Cin Cin Secondary School. Additionally, Hagagawa Primary School will be reconstructed to rival top private schools, with six more primary schools, including Chiranchi and Sabonlayi, slated for renovation.

“We’re committed to depoliticizing education and invite everyone to contribute to improving the state’s educational system,” he emphasized. To address teacher shortages, 200 additional teachers have been employed in Bichi, supplementing the existing 106 educators.

The students expressed gratitude to Rep Abubakar for his ongoing support, while the scholarship disbursement committee received commendation for their dedication to advancing education in the region.
