Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, affiliated with Kaduna State University’s Makarfi Campus, has matriculated 1,012 newly admitted students for the 2024/2025 academic session.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of Kaduna State University, Professor Abdullahi Musa, urged the students to remain focused on their studies and adhere to the institution’s rules and regulations. Represented by Professor Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Musa emphasized the importance of academic dedication and warned students against engaging in social vices.
In his address, the Provost of Shehu Idris College of Health Sciences and Technology, Malam Shehu Danlami, revealed that the 1,012 students were admitted into various programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. He called on both academic and non-academic staff to remain committed to their duties to ensure the institution’s success.
Malam Danlami also advised the newly admitted students to avoid joining illegal clubs and associations, both on and off campus. He cautioned them against drug abuse, secret cults, and immoral behaviors such as homosexuality and lesbianism. The Provost highlighted the college’s commitment to academic excellence, noting that it boasts qualified and experienced lecturers. However, he appealed for additional manpower and the renovation of student hostels and other facilities to address challenges affecting the smooth running of the institution.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Makarfi Local Government Council, Hon. Garba Mohammed Sabon Gari, commended the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for prioritizing education, healthcare, agriculture, security, rural infrastructure, and human development. He reiterated his council’s commitment to partnering with educational institutions to support the growth of education in the state.
Similarly, Barrister Mahmoud Bola Ige, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Zaria City Constituency, praised Governor Uba Sani for his efforts in advancing the education sector and driving rural transformation across the state.
In his royal address, the District Head of Gubuchi, Dr. Bello Lawal, expressed his appreciation to stakeholders for their contributions to the institution’s development. He called on community leaders to support government initiatives to achieve desired goals at all levels.
The event concluded with a call for collective efforts to ensure the continued growth and development of the college and its students.
